What I am focused on: Preparing for our upcoming Elite Mentoring Summit. We are launching a new Fast Property platform to our top students that will make things so much easier for them. I love Einstein’s quote “if you can’t explain something simply then you don’t understand it”. In other words “less is more”. I used to think more was always better. I think it came from my legal days of hourly and daily rates (trading time for money). I felt that anything I produced had to have a “thud” factor. If I gave you a set of 10 folders and 20 DVDs that was more valuable than a 30 minute video. Now I realise, in the words of Frank Kern “If you want to impress people make it complicated but if you want to help them make it simple.” So this is a simple, quick and easy interface for property entrepreneurs that I am really excited about!

What I am reading: “Skip the Line” by James Altucher. The author describes his repeated failures, financial disasters and need to pivot, embrace change, start over and reinvent. It’s not about resilience but about being comfortable with and embracing uncertainty. Altucher challenges Malcolm Gladwell’s notion of the 10,000 hours it supposedly takes to become proficient at something he promulgates “skipping the line” or what I call “imperfect action”. You can’t “think your way to success” , it is a product of your actions. You learn and succeed by actually “doing”.

What I am studying: Nassim Taleb’s “Incerto” series. Incerto is Latin for “uncertain” which is where I feel the world is right now. There is no playbook for dealing with the fallout and aftermath of a worldwide pandemic in the modern developed global economy. Taleb wrote what he calls his incerto collection focused on managing risk. The four books in the series are “Fooled by Randomness”, “The Black Swan”, “Anti-fragile” and “Skin in the Game”. Piecing them together creates a roadmap for mitigating against the downside while navigating uncertainty.
