Till next week,
What I have been doing: Spent last weekend at our Property Mavericks Live event in sunny Brisbane. Mid-winter, and we’re eating dinner al fresco. No wonder Queenslanders are always so happy and positive. I think the further north you go, the more chillaxed and content Australians are. When we lived in Cairns, a “formal” dress code just meant “wear your good thongs”!
What I have been reading: Been reading Richard Osman’s ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ series. It’s a quirky tale about a group of spry retirees solving mysteries – imagine Miss Marple with a gang! It’s oddly comforting how inviting their retirement village is; seriously – there are worse places – makes an aged care facility look cozy and fun!
What I have been thinking about: Lately, I’ve been pondering why we seem so set on defending the status quo, even when it’s clear as day that change would be beneficial. The great economist John Maynard Keynes said “The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones.” Maybe we just love our comfort zones a bit too much, not seeing them for the prisons that they are!
What I have been focused on: Faster, Cheaper, Better: In the world of property arbitrage, I’m looking at steel and pre-fab homes as an alternative to timber. Could they be the future of construction? Every crisis brings opportunity and necessity is the mother of invention. Watch this space …
PS: We released a new podcast this week, it is a look into YOUR PERSONALITY PROFILE. You can listen to them all now on Apple, Spotify, Youtube, our Website or wherever you find your podcasts, you don’t want to miss it.
