What I have been studying: A Weird Twist in the Property Market

I’ve been nose deep in the property market lately. It’s kinda weird. We’re dealing with high rates, loads of inflation, and a whole heap of uncertainty. And yet, what’s happening? Property prices are still going up, mainly because there’s not enough houses to go around. Plus, there are more people moving around than ever before. On the flip side, consumer sentiment is as low as it was back in the 90s. Something’s gotta give, right?

What I have been watching: Cardinal, the Crime Thriller

I’ve gotten hooked on this show, ‘Cardinal’, on SBS. It’s a tried and tested formula – good cop and bad cop chasing baddies. In season one they are after a serial killer. Is my love of the crime genre weird and creepy? I hope not. Anyway, it’s set in Canada, and I really like the landscape scenes. Plus, something about the grit and determination of the detectives in the show. They’re just so…human, with their flaws and layers, not unlike the serial killers they’re hunting. Maybe I’m just overthinking it as usual. I’m enjoying it, so let’s just leave it at that!

What I have been reading: A Little Self-Improvement Goes a Long Way

I’ve been reading ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear. It’s all about making small changes to get big results. Clear shares some great stories and gives practical advice about how to get better at change and forming new habits. A mentor once told me when I was in overwhelm “just devote 10 minutes a day to this”. It worked! So I can see how tiny tweaks can trigger big shifts.

What I have been thinking about: Not Giving A Brass Razoo About What Others Think

I’ve been thinking a lot about that old Coco Chanel quote, “I don’t care what you think about me. I don’t think about you at all.” There’s some solid wisdom in there. In this world, you can’t please everyone and it’s not your job to try. People can think what they like about you, but their opinion? It’s none of your business. It’s liberating, really, when you stop worrying about what other people think and just do your thing

PS: We released a new podcast this week, a check in on the Current State Of The Australian Property Market! You can listen to them all now on Apple, Spotify, Youtube, our Website or wherever you find your podcasts, you don’t want to miss it.
