What I have been doing: A road trip! Sometimes you just need to be spontaneous and impulsive. I woke up Sunday morning craving liquorice bread (of all things?) – and there’s a great cafe at the Blue Mountains that does the best comfort food ever – so we set off on a mini adventure …
What I have been reading: Apropos of our little Blue Mountains day trip, we had high tea at the Hydromajestic and I bought a book about its history. Mark Foy (of the department store fame) had a vision of bringing European spa treatments to Australia (think Grand Budapest Hotel style if you’ve seen the movie). So he built a big hotel, way ahead of its time, in the Blue Mountains. It was all things art deco glam in its day. But it burnt down some after opening and had to be rebuilt. The exercise ultimately completely bankrupted Mark Foy. But the legacy still lives on for us all to enjoy! Love these sorts of stories about tenacity, perseverance and visionary dreaming.
What I have been watching: “Gifted Hands – The Ben Carson Story ” with Cuban Gooding Junior playing the famous brain surgeon. The true life story of a poor African American boy from a single parent family with challenging learning difficulties who ultimately beat the odds to become the best neurosurgeon in the world and the first to separate cranially attached Siamese twins in a mammoth operation at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1987. Sometimes life can be stranger than fiction – I love true stories!
What I have been focused on: Building more “Challenges”. I have really embraced this new learning model. People’s time is precious and their attention is short. Less is more and as Confucius said “Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember but involve me and I understand”. Feedback is that our Property Lovers’ community is achieving more results via live challenges than any other learning model we have offered over the last decade. by “doing in order to learn” rather than the old model of studying theory and getting “qualified” or “learning in order to do” outcomes are achieved faster. Watch this space for a new quick challenge coming up next week!
PS: We released a new podcast episode, it is all about Deposit Bonds and Why They Could Be The Best Strategy To Grow Your Empire. You can listen to it on Apple, Spotify, Youtube, our Website or wherever you find your podcasts, you don’t want to miss it.
